Apron position (VERIFIED):

Both teams are below all aprons. Boston is even below the tax line ($201M).

For a Tatum trade at $58.46M outgoing on Boston's side:

• Unsigned pick conveys without matching value (the pick has a Rookie Scale Cap Hold for cap-counting but does not contribute to incoming matching salary in the trade itself).

Other CBA mechanics that bite:

• Sign-and-trade receipt hard-caps the receiver at first apron. So if Boston gets a sign-and-traded Kessler, they're hard-capped at $209M.
• Frozen pick rule: A team finishing above the second apron in 2 of any 4 consecutive seasons has a first-round pick 7 drafts out frozen. Boston was second apron in 2024-25; if they avoid second apron in 2025-26 (they did) and 2026-27 (currently projected), the clock doesn't tick. This trade has no frozen-pick implication.

8. Bottom line going into modeling

• Boston is NOT apron-restricted. They have $21.27M of first-apron headroom and $34.27M of second-apron headroom. The Tatum trade is the BIG move, and they have flexibility.
• Utah is NOT apron-restricted either. They have $66.84M of first-apron headroom.
• The mechanical constraint on Package A is the RFA Kessler — he must be signed to anything ≥ ~$17.9M for Utah's side to match Tatum (depending on filler).
• The mechanical constraint on Package B is essentially nonexistent — both pick-rights and signed-pick variants work.
• The real questions are now basketball, business, and value — not "can the trade happen."
