Below-cap room absorption limit

Summary

A below-cap team can absorb incoming salary only up to the sum of its outgoing salary plus its remaining cap room.

How it works

For a team with cap room: max incoming = outgoing_total + cap_room. This is distinct from the tiered MATCH-TIER rules, which apply to above-cap teams. If a below-cap team tries to absorb more than this limit, the trade is ILLEGAL.

Example

A team has $20M in cap room and sends out $5M. Maximum incoming = $25M. Attempting to absorb $30M fails this rule.
